SCHLOSS
ASCHBACH

Historic building facade with ivy and wooden shutters

The castle dates to the 17th century and was used as a hunting castle by the von Pölnitz family. The home is located in Aschbach, a municipality of the Upper Franconian town of Schlüsselfeld, just 25 minutes from the UNESCO world heritage city of Bamberg and 20 minutes drive to the Volkach wine region.

Historic building covered in red and green ivy, cobblestone pathway, autumn trees, cloudy sky.

The von Pölnitz family has continued to preserve the history of the Schloss and manages the foundation that supports events and conferences at the Schloss.  The castle has undergone two major renovations; one in the 1970s and another ending recently in 2024.  The Stiftung also manages the Brennerei and Forests surrounding the grounds.

Currently 3 generations of the von Pölnitz family work to preserve and manage the property and its forests. We are particularly indebted to Wolfgang Freiherr Von Pölnitz who originally set out to restore the North Wing in the 1970s and 1980s and ultimately lived in the Schloss until 2010.
